Everything from design, craftsmanship and optic performance is typically outstanding, and that has been the case for decades. I’ve reviewed some of their lenses for the Sony FE mount, but this is the first time I review a non-auto focus lens. Read on to find out more about this little gem....
Singapore is definitely my favorite city in Asia, so far. Being one of the four Asian tigers, it’s a highly developed economy and a cultural melting pot in the region. You can find pretty much any type of food here, even Spanish Tapas are excellent in the downtown area. This picture was taken in the Marina Bay area, specifically from the top of the Marina Bay Sands hotel.
Shanghai is one of my favorite cities in Asia. The Bund and Pudong areas are an interesting mixture of traditional european architecture and modern asian-style skyscrapers. I guess one of the things I enjoy the most about this city is that you can go back and forward in time just by walking the back streets. Little houses and buildings that have been there for centuries are just some blocks away from the Bund and a couple of metro stations from the Pudong....
Quarks rating explanation here. Earlier this year, Zeiss released their Batis Lenses specifically designed for the Sony FE mount. The announcement made waves all over the world since these are the first auto-focus FE lenses designed and manufactured from the ground up by Zeiss, as opposed to being a joint venture with Sony. Being manufactured by Zeiss should be enough to guarantee excellent optics and design. They even went ahead and included unique features not seen in any other lenses....
Background Story If I had to say which type of photography I feel more inclined to, I think it would have to be travel photography. There is something about traveling and visiting other places that inspire me to grab the camera and take some shots. Unfortunately, most of my travel is for business purposes, and my business has nothing to do with photography. That has compelled me to travel light and pick my camera gear to be as efficient as possible....
