Building a Standalone GPS Logger with CircuitPython

I’ve been fascinated by the GPS technology for years. There is something magical about being able to accurately pinpoint one’s position on the globe at any given time. Having that capability currently integrated in our phones is even more remarkable and something that we usually take for granted. The downside, however, is that accurately tracking our position is very taxing on our phones and severely impacts their battery life. I wanted a small standalone device capable of doing just that....

Zugu Case for iPad Pro 11” add-on

Introduction Ever since getting the iPad Pro 11”, I’ve been trying to get a more protective case than the ones offered by Apple. I’ve tried several options, from the cheap ones on Amazon (this one is actually pretty good) to the ones offered by Apple. After several tries, I settled on the The Muse by Zugu. Here are some of the reasons I like it: Perfect combination of protection, functionality and elegant design....

Bluetooth Controlled RGB LED Matrix

Project Overview If you like colorful and flashing LED lights, you are going to love this project. I’ve been looking for a small, rechargeable and powerful RGB LED matrix for a while. The idea is to use it for regular product photography, as an on-camera flash and/or as a fill video light. There are some nice products on the market, but they fall short on some of the specs, didn’t fit all my needs or just were too expensive....

Touch Screen Thermal Camera with Adjustable Temperature Range

Project Overview This project was inspired by the Thermal Camera with Display project from Adafruit. Ever since they announced the AMG8833 IR Thermal Sensor, I wanted to use it to build a thermal camera for checking hot spots on electrical panels around the house and looking for rabbit nests in the backyard. Although the project is very similar to Adafruit’s on the hardware side, I modified the Arduino (C language) code extensively to adapt it to my needs....
